| Frequently
Asked questions
How long do the filters last?
In
a very busy shop the primary bag filter will last from 4
to 6 months. In the typical shop it will last 6 to 8 months.
The washable pre-filter and axial-filter should be washed
with a garden hose once every 2 to 4 weeks.
Where can we buy the replacement filters?
We prefer that you buy the filters direct from us. If your
regular jobber is an Airomax dealer you can get the filters
from them. Some filter dealers in your area may carry the
correct size and rating for your system.
What
happens if I fail to service the filters?
As the filters collect the dust, smoke and over-spray that
is produced in your shop, their resistance to "air
flow" increases. When the resistance reaches a certain
level the amount of air passing through the device begins
to reduce. When the air flow reduction reaches the point
where the shop's pollution generation rate is greater than
the filtration rate, the system becomes considerably less
effective (See question 5 below). However, the unit will
not be damaged.
How
much cleaner will the air be in my shop if I install an
Airomax system?
The air in your shop will be from 75% to 90% cleaner
when your Airomax system is in operation.
How
will the Airomax system effect my heating and cooling system?
The Airomax system will deliberately cause "air turbulence"
to occur in your shop. The turbulence is required to keep
smoke, dust, and over-spray particles suspended until they
are captured in the filters. The turbulence prevents stratification
of heated or cooled air and equalizes the air temperature
at the floor and ceiling. Usually, the heating and cooling
system will cycle less frequently when an Airomax system
is in operation. This reduces the cost of heating and cooling
air.
What
determines the number of air cleaners required in a facility?
It is necessary to clean the pollution out of the air as
fast as it is being produced to prevent accumulation. In
air cleaning jargon this is called Air Changes per Hour
(ACH), which means all of the air in a shop passes through
the filters X times per hour. After 30 years, we know for
sure that 8 ACH is best for body shops. So the air cleaning
capacity of a given air cleaner model, combined with the
total volume of a shop and the required 8 ACH determines
the number of units required in a given facility.
Are
there many shops using Airomax air cleaners?
Airomax developed this air cleaning technology in 1978.
To date, over 80,000 Airomax units are installed in a wide
variety of applications. We believe that nearly 20,000 auto
body shops have purchased this type of unit.
What
is the warranty and guarantee on an Airomax system?
We guarantee that the air quality in your shop will be from
75% to 90% better at any one time as measured by an impartial
qualified person using a certified particle counter set
to count 0.3 micron size and larger particles. The units
carry a 36 month warranty against defects, excluding the
filters. The only significant component that may become
defective is the blower. We will ship you a new blower after
you remove it from the unit and return it to the factory
at your expense. We will the reimburse you $30.00 for labor.
Any other component is exchanged without labor compensation
but must be returned freight pre-paid.
Can
I buy an Airomax system "direct" or must I go
through a jobber?
If your regular jobber does not carry Airomax and does not
wish to, we will gladly sell to you direct.
